Yup... use a buffer. If you arent experienced with them take it to a shop and let them run over part of it real quick.
Lots of people SCREW UP their paint jobs using a buffer for the first time.

Also... This probably won't work... but you could TRY to use
a clay bar and see if the yellow is some sort of chemical or thin substance
from the sticky side of the vinyl.

Vinyl is dyed to achieve it's color. I imagine those black stripes baked in the hot sun enough for some of the dye to leech out and stain the clear coat. Like fifth said, rubbing compound or maybe even some light wet sanding will take it off.

Thanks to everyone for the advice. I'm gonna talk to a good paint guy I know tomorrow and see what he suggests. I'm not against using a buffing compound, but I wasn't sure how it would affect the clear coat. I really just wanted a clean, white car with no stripes. If the paint can't be fixed, I'll consider applying new vinyl or having them painted on. I was thinking silver with a black outline.

Nice to see someone else from OK on here. I haven't seen many white Mustangs around my area. The silver w/ black outline sounds pretty cool though.

Two-tone on the stripes is the only way to go!!!

But of course I'm a little biased.

Had this on a Corvette once. Removed the bra and found the white had yellowed.
Repaint or replace the stripes...

Let me know what your paint guy says. My bf is having the same problem with his rocker panel stripes. He is going to put new stripes on anyways, but it'd be nice to know. Thanks.

This is where I saw the silver stripes. It's a GT-H:

I think it looks pretty good and may be my only choice I guess.

Just FYI, that's a 2007 Shelby GT (SGT), not a GT-H. All GT-H are black with gold stripes. The SGT stripes have a 1" spacing between them, so that helps to cover the stained part of your car's paint. However, the SGT stripes are narrower than your car's existing black stripes, so they won't cover all the stained paint.
