staggered look?

I don't but typically, staggered means a wider tire on the rear than up front. Going with 19's up front and 20's in back still will require you to maintain a similiar tire O.D. on both ends, meaning that your rear tire's sidewall height will be lower than the front which just looks wierd IMO. And don't even get me started talking about those rubber band tires on those 20's.
But if that's your style, go for it.

not my thing either but a guy at the rim place me and my bf went to today suggested it so I wondered what it would look like.
.... but my bf has 20's now and loves the look. I don't think they look like rubber band tires but I see where you might say that with some rims.

It's all a matter of preference. From a retro standpoint (which is the #1 selling point of the S197's to begin with), taller sidewalls are the key to maintaining that appearance. But a few folk, especially the younger people, like the big wheel/small rubber look. Whatever floats your boat.

That's the way it goes as cars get bigger, though, Nuke. Fifteen years ago, Mustang owners would have yelled sacrilege at you for putting 18" rims on your car, and dubbed you a ricer.
The 2010+ body style isn't as hardcore retro (imo) as the 05-09, so bigger rims tend to suit it well. A meaty 19" really sets off the cross between muscle and sporty, but as the GT500 above shows, a 20" doesn't look out of place either.

Granted, 20's on some Stangs look fine, especially when you notice the car with the nice wheels and not the other way around. But IMO, the majority that I've seen with 20's are borderline clown cars. But again, I'm old school and that's my gut reaction.
