NXT is a great synthetic wax...covers scratches and swirls (temporarily)...therefore, for car shows and quick fixes, its a great product. But its protection value and longevity, as stated, are terrible. When I used to own a detailing business, on my high valued customers, I would clay the car after washing it, then I would use a detail spray (usually with the claying). Then I would apply a coat of NXT followed by a carnuba spray. It would come out great!
Zaino always left nasty streaks for me...but maybe they worked on that since I was detailing cars 5 years ago... There were a couple "homemade" concoctions I would use that my supplier down here made up and they were PHENOMENAL but he's since retired

OP here. Meguiar's says that the Ultimate will last longer than the NXT 2.0. Then again, they say that the reflectivity of the Ultimate is better. My car is white, so it's difficult to compare reflectivity. I "borrowed" the trunk lid of a neighbor's black car, waxed half with NXT 2.0 and half with Ultimate--couldn't see any difference. Meguiar's also says that the Ultimate will not stain plastic. For some, maybe the Ultimate is worth a try. Maybe.
