Pics of 05 V6 Salvage rebuild
I bought an 05 V6 Coupe that was salvaged. Previous owner spun out and hit a guard rail, major damage to the rear with the right fender slightly damaged and the front bumper scraped up quite a bit.
My dad and uncle own a body shop so I wanted to buy a wrecked mustang and have them fix it up for me. I also worked there when I was a teenager so I'm able to do some stuff that doesn't require a ton of work. I'll be posting pics as I go along. Here it is when I picked it up in NJ. http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/...ustangpic2.jpg Notice the bad taste the previous owner had. Ugly universal tape on hood scoop, weird hood stripes, and mid 90's GT badges! Here's pics when my dad towed it to his shop. http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/...4/DSC02022.jpg http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/...4/DSC02024.jpg I had already sanded the worst of the damage to the bumper at home before I brought it in. It actually had a hole from the damage. http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/...4/DSC02025.jpg The accident pushed the trunklid up enough to blow out the rear glass. http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/...4/DSC02026.jpg http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/...4/DSC02027.jpg You can see the guardrail marks in this pic on the right quarter. http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/...4/DSC02028.jpg Close up of the worst of it. http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/...4/DSC02029.jpg When I got the car home and was working on removing the hood scoop and stripes, I noticed the corrosion that these year mustangs get on the hood, so we decided to repair it now before it got worse. Upon repairing it my uncle discovered what was on the outside maybe a dime sized bubble was a quarter sized hole right through the hood! So I decided to get a new hood. I found a guy in Mass. who was selling an aftermarket hood for a good price so I bought it. At this point I was going to put roush quarter louvers and a billet grille on, but once I got this 67 style hood I decided to go with a more classic look for the mods from here on out (hence why i'm selling several of these parts in the classified section. Anyways, heres a pic of the hood after a little bit of work by my uncle smoothing out the waves. http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/...4/DSC02085.jpg When my dad saw the quarter he wasn't sure if he'd be able to save that and the rear body panel or if he would need to buy new pieces. Thankfully he was able to save both the quarter and rear body panel. http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/...4/DSC02086.jpg Pic from the back of the quarter being straightened. http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/...4/DSC02087.jpg Picture of the GT bumper being fitted. http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/...4/DSC02089.jpg Here's the hood after one of its many primings http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/...4/DSC02125.jpg Heres the quarter with some body filler on it. http://i1190.photobucket.com/albums/...4/DSC02126.jpg I'm hoping to have the major body work done by the start of May, it all depends on how busy the shop is as this isn't a priority for them. Then because it has a salvage title is has to go through a NY salvage inspection. Typically the inspection is a month from when you sign up. Then when it passes it takes a few weeks to get a new title in the mail. I'm hoping to have it on the road sometime in June. It's nice to see a father/son project. Wow, your dad did a nice job pounding out that rear 1/4. Hood looks good also. Good luck on the build.
