Has anyone painted their door panel inserts and rear speaker grills?
My door panels are all grey plastic and I'd like the center to be dark charcoal, like interior upgrade panels that have the leather. Figured if I was going to paint that I should paint my rear speaker grills we well.
Has anyone ever done this? If so, how hard was it and what paint did you use? I was going to try the SEM 'Color Coat' but I'm not sure what color is the closet match to our dark charcoal. Right now I'm thinking it's Landau Black.

I personally have not, luckily my interior is already black, but my buddy painted his 03 Mach 1 door inserts red. He got the paint at carquest, can't remember the brand off the top of my head. He knows how to paint things, good thing to because I sure as hell don't. But I do remember him saying the paint was expensive but the color and the finished product are fan f'in tastic. I know others on here have, I would search door panels and I'm sure someone describes the process
Edit: I knew someone recently did it, he painted the whole door though, I would just ask him about the process/paint

Well I'm bored and found this as well. My buddy who painted his recommends the black imron paint, since you don't want it to be reflective and it is a single stage paint, and 220-320 sandpaper. Here is a link for a guy who did his with duplicolor rattle cans

I just painted my entire door. (Thanks usc!)
I used Krylon Fusion plastic paint, and Krylon Clear Gloss coat.
Mine turned out really nicely!
Just make sure before you start, you tape off everything very well,
clean off all the dirt and grime (I used lighter fluid), then use what's called an "Adhesion Promoter" (Found at your local auto parts store.)
I recommend doing it out in the sun, so it will dry faster. Use a coat of adhesion promoter, wait 1-2 minutes, lay down your first layer of paint. Let it dry fully, then lay down another coat of adhesion promoter, then another of paint.
Always put down a layer of the adhesion promoter before adding a coat of paint, gloss, etc.
Mine's very glossy, looks stock, and is holding up great.
Notice all my trashy overspray =/
