No underhood light

No underhood light
I believe I've read that since 98, Mustangs have not had a stock light under the hood. I had a 98 and it's true I did have a light.
I've been trying to find a light to install under the hood that would hopefully give enough light for most things except of course detail work. I was thinking especially on the side of the road. I don't know if I'm going to throw some parts together and make my own (probably cheaper) or I found a light for some Nissans made by BT Design in Vancover. They are 39.95 I think and look to come complete. I'm thinking freight from say Washington and cost
might make it too expensive. Still thinking. Have any of you put any work
type lighting not talking show lighting under the hood.

Under the hood, I consider there to be two types of permanent lighting. There is "Show Lighting" , naturally for the clean pony at shows. Then there is "Mechanical / Everyday Lighting", naturally for the person needing to work under the hood in low or no light or the never happens to a Pony emergency side of the road.

LED marine lights available thru WallyMart is what I used
with a old fashion mercury switch to activate them.
I have never really needed them in the last 5 years of ownership.
Shoulda spent the coin elsewhere.

The only light I use is when it's dark and I have one of those bright LED light sticks that you can actually hang on the top of the hood and it lights up all I need to see
I don't go to any car shows that are outside at night so I would have no need for a light.
If I did I might get one but would NOT get any of those neon HIDs or anything.
Just a nice clear normal light that would light up the engine bay for people to see.
I personally HATE the whole neon light thing.
The colored cup holder accents in the GT500 and the floors are pretty cool though.
They only light up when you open the door or turn on your interiors as far as the floor lights, and the cup holder light is a pretty good functional thing to have to prevent spills.
Again I HATE the whole neon light up the interior of your car thing when you are just driving around for people to see as well.
Those and the ones for the outside of the car were just TOO much of a ricer thing back in the day and they still use them a lot sometimes.
Just not a MEAN muscle and bones look these cars are supposed to be about.
They are too much of a bling bling... oooo neat old thing ricers did to make
their cars look futuristic at the time.
Now it does not even look futuristic.
It looks old and played out and says 90's
Rice A Roni to me.
Sorry if I offended anyone.
Giving just my own straight up bare bones true opinion.

Blacksmoke,
I know Pony's never rust or breakdown. However, I'm looking for a functional light that I'd be able to see around the engine, if the car starts to make a funny noise some night on a seemingly deserted road. I want a mounted light, because if I had one of those nice lights you see that have hooks on both ends and hook on both sides of the hood, I'm afraid it might get broken while in storage in the trunk.

Keep the mounted light in a bag.
Not one of those big ones with the cages around them...
Just a stick. They should NOT break when they are stored in the trunk
I have had mine in there for a year now with a lot of other stuff and it has never broke.
You can pick them up at Lowe's.
