Default Swirl remover

Hey Guys,

I finally got up enough courage and money to complete the entire 9 yards in detailing.

I learned a lot for my first time go-round, but I need some opinions.

I used two different swirl removers, M205 and poor boys 2.5. They seemed to get most of the swirls out, but I can still see them when looking directly into a sun reflection or strong light. Poorboys seemed to do slightly better, but still left some swirls.

Does anyone have suggestions on a true swirl remover? I think my issue is that the M205 is a polish and swirl remover. Not sure.

I know some will be thinking that I have deep scratches other than just swirls, but I don't think that is the case. You can't see them unless you look hard and you cannot feel them. So I am not sure what to go with at this point.

Thanks.

Are you trying to do this by hand or with an orbital polisher?
Because by hand, you'll never get there.

As far as the product, you can't go wrong with brands like meguiar, 3M etc...

I used a Porter Cable 7424XP and some Meguire's on my conversion van and must say it did an awesome job! Listern to pascal, he owns a body shop and can stir you in the right direction. Good Luck!

There are alot of different polishes and pads out there, and alot of them are really great. I've tried out a few different ones, and my personal favorite is Adam's polishes. They aren't the only good ones out there but they are easy to use, and work well. Haven't found anything I couldn't correct with them yet (besides deep scratches). The medium-strength orange polish with the PC like you and 07 Stang own even got out 2000 grit wetsanding marks after 3 passes, so really, you should be good with them.

Also, post some pictures for us. It would be helpful to know what we are dealing with.

And if you don't have them already, get some strong HID lights to detail by. Not quite as great as the sun, but better then whatever crappy bulbs you probably have in your garage.

Good.
Make sure you have new pad (foam's the preferred one).
After you ran the compound and you got to the desired shine, spray a little water on the paint and ran the buffer again until the water is gone.
This will eliminate any miss that you eyes didn't catch.
Lastly, do this under fluorescent lights if you can help it.
The swirls and imperfections really show under neon lighting etc...

I was wondering about that too, Pascal. The only thing I can think of is that it breaks up any left over polish sticking to the paint. If so, I achieve the same thing through a detail spray wipe-down under HIDs to make sure it's all clean.

For over the counter compound. Get meguiars ultimate compound. Meguiars m105 is a heavy compound most use before 205 but its not as easy to find in stores. Ultimate compound is close and will finish down as well. What pads do you have. Also the meguires microfiber pad kit in 5.5 in will take care of you. Pm me I have soooo much stuff i can send you some sample products
