I had mine painted a few months ago for $350; final sanding, two coats paint and one coat clear like the factory.

So I guess 450 would not be out of line if I get it painted and installed. We'll have to see. Something did come up that requires my finances, but the bumper can stand to stay in the garage attic for a season I am sure...

And what is this about tabs? I haven't heard about that. The fit of the rear bumper is fine now too imho...

One coat of clear?
Better keep that bumper out of the sun.

@Justice, don't pay more than $300 to have this thing painted and don't take it to the dealer.
They suck at body work.
Find a good independent shop...

This dealership has done good by me, and I have seen their body shop. They do complete car resprays and have seen inside their shop. Don't get me wrong, I will be shopping around, and looking at other places. Colision centers are going to be part of the search.

But it is a low priority now, got something at the house I need to fix. And that is sucking my bank account dry at the moment. At least I got the bumper!

Remember, looking good is the goal but aging staying looking good is where it's at.
Even if you find a dealer that has a decent painter, make sure they let him use good materials. ;)

If I was you and your wanting to say money on powdercoating, I would simply plastidip the wheels black or silver just to fix them, at least temporarily

Cal26Stang 02-28-2012 08:31 PM

Pascal, how much do you think it should cost to do a gt/cs rear bumper and paint it black? with at least using du pont paint...no transtar ****

TheDutchTexan 02-29-2012 12:36 AM

I got a qoute at the dealership just to see where it would be. And they would charge $420 for the lot, paint and install.

I'll keep that in mind for a few months later when my bank account recovers from the recent events...
