End the Decklid blackout debate...
So after watching my magnetic panel wither away in the winter cold air and not wanting a bulky looking plastic piece, I've found THE solution. Stop what you are doing, go to your nearest vehicle wrap installer, and have them do this:
Matte black vinyl. Just pop the emblem off and re-install on top of the vinyl with new outdoor 3M film.

Good God why didn't I think of that? Just last week a co-worker and I were discussing how profitable a vehicle wrapping business would be with as many full body wraps as you see all over the place now. I don't want flat black though I want glossy black. So that's a $50 bill for parts and labor?

Yes, that was for parts and labor. (Though I did spend $5 on new 3M tape for the emblem.)
A local guy should be able to make it either flat or glossy. My guy had flat, gloss, and then some kind of metallic gloss that looked like metal flake black paint. He was using that to put stripes on a new Camaro.

Thanks!
I wish I was confident enough to try PlastiDip. I'm going to step out of my comfort zone and try to use VHT NightShade for the first time on my turn signals.
