Scuffed window tint

So I got a 2006 GT a couple weeks ago. Solid car with the mostly cosmetic issues besides the infamous wheel speed sensor (ABS/TCS light) problem.

So, I've got tint problems. The back window tint is bubbled but the thing that concerns me is the windows. The tint is scuffed. Not scratched. I can feel the indention in the tint but it's not through it to the glass. It looks like it's actually worn from rolling up and down in the door. Several lines worn in on both windows.

Is this a problem that anyone has had before? I'm going to get the tint redone (it's the original Ford tint) but I hesitate to do so until I know if this is something down in the door or the rubber-ish sleeve (whatever it's called) on the sill. I don't want to scuff up new tint.

Back window is more then likely due to a poor tint job. The 2005-2006 Mustangs had weather stripping that scratched the tint, mine looks terrible. I would recommend getting Mole Skin or something of the nature installed on top of the rubber weather stripping to prevent further damage...

is yours a Vert, i know mines is and i'm having the same problem with my window tint.

Nope, coupe. I figured it was the rough weather stripping, but didn't want to rip the door panel off until I knew if someone else had fixed this. I need to reglue the leather on the door anyway though so I might go exploring this weekend.

If you find that it is the weather stripping I can tell you now that moleskin is a great product. My tint had some severe scratches and ever since I installed it there hasn't been any more. Just thought you might want some info on the moleskin product, and good luck with fixing your tint!

Thanks man. Are you stripping over the original with a skin or something or is this a replacement for it?

I got mine here:

and followed TacoBill's how to:

It's a very easy project to complete.

Hallelujah. Thanks man.

I kept putting off getting the moleskins and now I got a nice long vertical scratch on my tint... :icon_shrug:

There is another alternative if you are so inclined.. I did this..
05 - 07's for some reason did not put the fel on the door seals. Front windows only though oddly enough (I have a vert).. But.. the 08's do have the felt and they are the exact same as far as fitment goes.

So, I took myself upto my local Ford dealership and ordered drivers side and passenger side door seals.

The moleskin is $30 and the Ford factory seals are roughly $100. I went that route though because TacoBill is a hell of a better craftsman on things like that than I'll ever be. The place doing my tint is putting them on there for free so that was a bonus as well.
