Finally got the hood done!

JimC,
I really like how you went about mounting the Shaker to the hood. I have a 07GT with the FRPP Intake manifold. I am wondering if something similar could be done to mount the Shaker to the hood to get that retro look, but keep the FRPP intake manifold on the engine.

I never got the stripe done on the underside unfortunately. The painter always had an excuse, and then did more damage to the car trying to fix the runs in a quarter panel I had him respray.
So I put the hood blanket back on after trimming it for the shaker.
And filed a small claims action against the first painter to recover what I had to spend with a second painter to fix the damage he did and fix the bad paint job on the quarter panel and touch up the top of the hood where it was still dull.
Mounting it to the hood you should be able to keep your FRPP intake no problem. All I did was cut the opening in the hood, used some aluminum plate with a hole cut in it for cooling and to mount the shaker to, and screwed the assembly into the hood bracing. The stock plastic is simply covering up the aluminum C-channel that I used as the riser for the scoop and it is bolted through to the aluminum plate using the same bolt holes as the shaker would use in a standard set up. Trimmed out the plastic shroud so it only covers the C-channel and painted everything. The hood is heavier than stock of course.

Did you take any pictures of the underside of the hood after putting on the blanket?
I like you idea very much and it would be cool to keep the FRPP intake and have the Shaker. Only thing is that mounting it that way the Shaker wouldn't Shake.
I wish I was good at fabbing metl up, so that I could come up with something to mount the Shaker to the intake. Someone else said the the Shaker would sit up about 2 inches higher with it. Don't know if that is too tall or not.

This is the only one I can find right now. You can make out the aluminum plate. I painted it black before mounting it but the screws weren't painted. You can see the overspray from the stripe when it was done before mounting the shaker scoop. Also at the front of the opening you can see a slot I had to cut in the plate to clear the pulley on the Xcharger, so the aluminum c-channel is exposed.
I have to remember to ask him about coming to Mustang Memories. I'll be working parking so will probably see you there.
