Default What tape do get for Louvres?

I bought vented louvres from American Muscle, and I had a body shop put them on. After about a week, they started to peel off. I was wanting to know what type of tape I should get. Please provide a site I can go to purchase it. I have read other threads, and they said get 3m double sided tape. There are many different kinds of that tape, though. So please provide the type and size. Thanks.

Should look for the 3m stage 2 auto super strength molding tape. I was told that stage 3 and 4 start eating the paint (could someone confirm or deny this?)

Does American Muscle provide tape? Sounds like the body shop may not of prep them right.
I almost bought those kind but found an awesome deal for Silver Horse Racing Louvers. They take the place of the 1/4 windows so no need to worry about them coming off.

Your shop didn't prep the area, sounds like. You can't just stick on 3M tape without cleaning the area first. Why'd you have a body shop put on louvers? Sounds like money well wasted.

I'd ask AM.com what tape they use as it worked well for me. Or go to autozone and grab your choice of 3M tape and adhesion promoter.

AM techniqally recommends the application of all body parts by a body shop but that's more for legal issues than ability

Thanks for all the help, and I had a body shop do it because I know the owner and he said he would do it for $20. I figured by the time I took the time to do it that it would just be easier for them to put it on.

I had the same issue with one of my louvers not sticking well in certain areas and I followed the prep guide to a "T". I did some reading and numerous people stated that the provided 3M tape is not the greatest. I went to home depot and picked up a roll of 3M Super Duty two sided sticky tape and fixed the areas that were not adhering properly. It was a pain getting the old tape off and fixing.
IMPORTANT - Be sure to use 90%+ rubbing alcohol to clean the area on the car. Also, make sure to install on a dry warm day. They suggest not driving the car for 24 hours, to allow time for the tape to cure. Hope this helps!

Problems like yours are due to improper prep as mentioned. You'll need a good stripper to remove wax and other stuff. 90% or higher isopropyl alcohol works well. Any lesser % and the constituents become contaminants. Also, the workiing surface should be between 60 and 80 degrees F and after application, the car should not be driven for 12-24 hours AND kept indoors if possible. Morning dew or any humidity for that matter will affect curing.

3M tape is a proven product so it's always a bad prep issue.
Once all surfaces are clean like previously mentioned before, KEEP YOUR STINKY FINGERS OFF THE CAR SURFACE AREA!!!
In fact, don't even fart next to the car as you want to keep contaminants away.
