Did a spoiler delete and noticed a paint issue
Bought my car a few days ago and did a spoiler delete today. I noticed that the top of the quarter panel in the area that had previously been covered by the spoiler had some orange peel, while the trunk right next to it was almost completely smooth. In other words, orange peel on one side of the gap, smooth on the other. Looks like the two panels were painted at different times, or like someone wet sanded the quarter panel but didn't get under the spoiler. This is only apparent on one side of the car. On the other, the paint texture is identical.
I'm assuming the factory paints these cars with the trunk installed and spoiler off. This should mean the level of orange peel should be uniform across the entire vertical surface.
So now I'm concerned my car has had some paintwork done. I'll post a pic tomorrow, but in the meantime, does anyone else's car have a noticeably different level of orange peel from top of quarter panel to trunk?

I don't know that I understand your post. You say you bought your car a few days ago and did a spoiler delete today. If the car came from the factory with a spoiler and the spoiler was subsequently removed, then paint work would have been done after the car left the factory.

Clean CarFax, but that doesn't mean much. Here's a pic of what I'm talking about. FWIW the car is a 'vert.
After looking at it a bit more I'm thinking it came from the factory like that. The orange peel is actually more uniform than I thought along the quarter panel. Plus the car was buffed out at least once, and they probably didn't spend much time getting under the edge of the spoiler. Not going to worry about it too much at this point.

I'm a little hazy about the photo, but it looks to me as though the surface ids not full orange-peel composed of small separate blob of paint not completely fused into the paint. What I see is glossy dimples that cover the right side of the photo. Modern urethane paints tend to dry in that way requiring either bugging or sanding and buffing to smooth it out. Since the cars are generally smooth, they are buffed on all the highlights. Under the spoiler is off stage and does not need it
Feel free to sand/buff
