Default headlight/foglight bulbs

From hat I can gather, I need H13 bulbs for the headlights and H10 bulbs for the fogs.

My question is... What color temperature gives a "white" light, I don't want to go blue and I want to get rid of the yellow.

6000k - 8000k is the "white" range. The lower the number the more yellowish, the higher the number the more bluish/purplish.
Silverstar Ultra's are pretty good.

I upgraded to HIDs and chose the 5000k bulbs. I do not like the new fad of blue headlights, not only because it's a fad but because of the science behind color temperature. 5000k gives me a pure white headlight beam. I am a graphic artist, video photo nerd who works with monitors and light booths calibrated to industry standard D50 lighting conditions. Blah, blah, blah. What I'm trying to say is that I am fussy and 5000k made me very happy.

Scroll down and you'll see a chart comparing them all, http://www.kryptonbulbs.com/HID-kits...ts/H11-HID-kit

5000k is pretty "white". Above that you begin noticing blue tinge. Also, above about 4500k you begin to lose "useful" light and it becomes apparent in rain or fog at night. I had 5000k in the SUV headlights and replaced them with 4100K Silverstar Ultras because of the crappy visibility in the rain. My fogs on all 3 vehicles are 2500K Hella Extreme Yellow XY.

Thanks, good to know.

I saw that silverstar zXe are rated at 4200K (only 100K more than ultras), although they also have a "shorter life" disclaimer.
Hmm.

The zXe's run around $50/pair; kind of steep for an additional 100K over the Ultras. I'll probably wait for the price to drop before I give them a try, probably in the wife's '06. As far as life span, when I ran the original Silverstars in my first SUV which also used the headlights as the DRL's, I got just over 1 year on them driving to and from work in the dark. In other vehicles that don't use the headlights as DRL's, I was getting about 3 years or more on the originals and Ultras.

Well, Amazon has the H13 ZXEs for $40, so I just went that way... also decided to try yellows in the fogs and see how I like it.

I know that a lot of people like to match the temp of their fogs to those of their headlights and, yes, it looks "pretty". But coming from areas that had bad fog, heavy snow and downright chitty weather at night (I was always driving to or from work in the dark), the 2500k lamps really out-performed the higher temp bulbs hands down as far as contrast was concerned.

I just bought a full set of Phillips crystal vision ultra for heads and fogs, cheap, around $60 for all 4.
I have one problem, the inside of the fogs have a grey film on the inside of the lens almost immediately. Is this fogging from moisture or something else??
