Hopefully someone has better news. Having done some painting, this is a time consuming job. They are have to prep the whole top of your car and both ends. Bumper scuffs, sandblast and 5 years of general paint wear.

Anywhere a flaw crosses the paint edge becomes a challenge keeping the edge crisp. At between 8 and 12 paint edges that's roughly 120-180 feet of perfectly crisp tape line.
Are you having the stripes cleared to protect them and minimize the edges? Were you thinking of some fancy custom color? add the cost of the color and the difficulty of applying it. All things considered it's a lot of work.

The best time to do the job is when the paint is new and perfect.

Now that your car is 5 years old, If the cost is too high, I recommend getting some high quality vinyl stripes. Then, If you decide you want a different look, you can replace them later.

Good luck!

Last time I checked here, it was just under $900. So it's really not that far off.

That's about right. I was quoted 2k on mine and that included building up the clear so the surface is smooth.

Thanks for the input and Rbowmar I see your point. I just hate to put the vinyl back on b/c it is a bitch to get them off I just found out. I think I will go with no stripes for now and see how I like her.

Wow, glad I live in S. TX then, I paid $175.00 per panel (did the hood and deck lid) for a black super snake style stripe at a professional body shop. The hood was clear coated and polished and is smooth as glass.

That's a good way to cut the price--Those surfaces are relatively flat and not exposed to the abuse bumpers get. They are at an easy height to work on. That said, $175/panel is a great price.

I don't know about your area, but in Colorado, they dump truckload after truckload of sand/salt mix on the roads for snow. Add that to the unavoidable flying rocks and gravel everywhere, even with Clear Bra, the paint takes beating. Most paint jobs deal with some gravel repair.

If it includes the bumpers, hood scoop, and rear spoilers if you have those, then it's about what it takes.

Price of materials keep going up big time...
I wouldn't charge much less for that job.
