help with hood scoop insert
#2
You probably have to take the hood scoop off to do so.
1. Pop open the hood
2. Remove the black heat guard with the push pins in it
3. Undo the nuts on the scoop (be careful not to torque them too fast, I broke one of my studs away on the front because I did it too fast). Also make sure you have someone hold the scoop still so that it doesn't fall out as you unscrew it.
4. Then remove the scoop.
5. Attach scoop grille as needed
*Notes* You may want to use 3M tape to re-secure the scoop to the hood and give it a better seal/prevent vibration and seeing a gap when the wind blows the scoop up a bit. Otherwise, re-install hood with directions in reverse order. To use 3M tape, do the following:
1. Remove padding on the underside of the scoop
2. Clean area where the padding was before
3. Remove backing on 3M tape on ONE SIDE ONLY
4. Apply 3M tape in place of the padding
5. Use a razor to cut the 3M tape so that it fits the edge of the scoop
6. Clean the surface of the hood to remove as much dirt as possible
7. Place scoop back on and tighten it back down
8. Follow directions for removing the scoop in reverse order to finish re-install.
*Notes* Make sure to give the 3M tape enough time to ad hear before driving (roughly 12-24 hours)
Good luck and show it off after your done, I actually thought about this before.
