Black stripes with black wheels is a safe bet, but how I love white stripes on a red stang
If you are going the painted route, you could have the white stripes outlined with a thin black stripe to tie in with the wheels.

Painted black stripes with your black wheel accents will go great. I agree that painted stripes are less hassel and will hold up longer. Only draw back is when/if you grow tired of stripes, you will have to repaint.

Hey, No I never had any problem with bubbles, I used a squeegee on them. I used a pin for a couple but the rest came out in the sun before I got to them. Like he ^ said the plus with vinyl is you change change them. I keep getting the urge to change mine for a different color but they still look good and I cant beat black on black.

If you can get the vinyl for the same price as the paint, than get them painted on. No brainer for sure. No fading, peeling, or anything. Also go matte black. I have never been a fan of white stripes.
