Lighted visor mirrors

In case anyone is interested, these visors are direct replacements (with the exception of adding your own wiring). The mounts are the same, but they have covers on them now so they look cleaner. No ugly screws visible.
Here are a couple pics of them side by side so you can see. The first pics is an optical illision. They are the same exact size. The front one looks bigger, but isn't. All the mounts are the same in placement, so they bolt up direct. Just have to run your wires to fuse box and get a mini-fuse tap connector. Simple little brass clip that hooks over the fuse and lets you attach a push on connecter. Very simple, easy, and keeps the wiring from being all cut up. Cheap also. I paid 27 cents apiece from Carquest (ST231 is the part number. Buss fuses # is ATM-TAP). NAPA wanted 1.02 each. Go figure. Hope this helps some of you out. It's a nice mod, and hopefully tomorrow I can go back and finish it then.

Here is a picture of the fuse tap if you have any question. The little hole is where the leg of the fuse goes, and then just clips over the fuse. Very simple, very slick. Make sure you use the MINI style or you'll get the wrong ones. The pic is real crappy, but you get the idea. Good luck with the project. I'm liking my mod. Glad I decided to try it.

Ok, they are in. What a nice improvement. I wish I wouldn't of used such a long piece of heat shrink on the new connectors at the plug in. I used a 6 inch piece, instead of just a couple inches, it made fitting thru the opening difficult because of the small size and the sharpness of the angle. If I did it again, I wouldn't of made it so long. I just wanted to protect the harness. Other than that, piece of cake. Went right together, and works great. I also reran the harness for the Homelink mirror down the same pillar and connected it with a fuse tap. Much cleaner than the way I had it (hooked into the hot side of the dome circuit before). Also, instead of 5 feet of wire to go from side to side, it was only about 4 feet plus the connectors. I left the extra up under the roof panel, figuring I could use it to tap off if I ever go the inclination to add another thing and needed power.
The one complaint with this modification is, the mirrors themselves are considerably smaller than the originals. I believe the convenience is worth the difference. A big improvement is the material that the newer visors use also. It isn't the soft fuzzy, microfiber like material, but the cloth seat type material. I like the feel of it better than the original. JMO.
