Default Installing rocker stripes myself

Installing rocker stripes with mustang lettering, from american muscle.
I have read and watched how to, on this, but nothing about removing wax.
Should I use some rubbing alcohol to remove the wax first?

You definitely want to make sure the surface is super clean. You don't want a fresh coat of wax on there, because that will cause the paint to be very slippery! Make sure the surface, is clean and dry and you'll be in good shape.

I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any questions or need some assistance in the near future.

Thanks Dan
The car has not been waxed this year, 4 or 5 coats from last year.
Do I need to remove the wax that might still be there?

Start with the alcohol to clean off the paint. I ended up paying someone $60 to do mine. He thought it'd take 20 minutes but it took 1:20. The biggest problem was that the tape was too rolled up and he was working inside. My advice would be (as I've seen in instructions) to put the stripes out in the sun and let them warm and loosen up. The straighter (less rolled) they are when you start, the better they'll go on.

Good luck and put up pix.

I want to do this myself, but I'm afraid I'd not get them perfectly straight. Post some pictures as you do this. I'd like to see how it turns out.

If you install them wet, a drop of soap with water in a spray bottle, you can move them around and into place.

Thanks for the replies guys.
mustangintexes and Tommyc, I will straighten before hand, use alcohol to clean the paint, use a drop of soap so I can move it around.
derboesekoenig, I think this is something you can do with someone to help you, as I will be having some help with this from friends.
I can not do pic but will let you know how it goes.

That's a good video but really doesn't show how to install rocker stripes. FFaPony, look for some rocker stripe install vids. One thing you really need to do is tape the strip up first, center and both ends. Then you do one end and then the other. After you do one end, I might suggest taping that up as well. With the soapy water, those things will tend to slide around on you. What took my guy so long was waiting for the stripes to dry enough to pull the paper off without pulling the stripe off. You need to let it dry and stick real well. That's what a hair drier is good for but don't get it any hotter than your figures would like. Good luck and post pix.

If your worried about them being level, after you prep the surface, put a strip of painters tape along the body line to mark either the top of bottom of where you want the stripe and make sure it follows the body line per your desire. Then you can float the vinyl into the spot using the painters tape.
