Default OEM Strut Tower Brace

OK, so I got a great deal on a new take-off strut brace for a 2013 GT. It doesn't quite fit my 2005 GT (doesn't clear the intake manifold). However, I worked a solution. I need honest opinions, please. Is this OK, or not?

The solution is 5/16" x 7/8" Coupling nuts threaded down on the strut mount bolts, then 5/16 x 1/2" flange bolts to attach the brace. The net result was to raise the ends of the brace almost an inch on the ends, allowing 3/8" clearance of the intake manifold.

in my honest opinion that is going to wallow out the holes on the brace or break the bolts on the strut..

I had that thought, but didn't know for sure. Damn, gonna have to take it off. Too bad, though.

Thanks!

I would think any really hard turn could break one off. You'd need to replace the upper bearing mount then. I didn't know that the 5.0 sat lower in the hole than the 4.6, but it would change the weight ratios quite a bit. Nice brace tho.

I didn't know either. I'd seen braces listed on AM, and other stores, that said they'd fit 2005-2014. The geometry was right, but the bow of the brace just wasn't enough. Oh well. I'll sell that one, and buy a different one that will fit.

I know. I pulled it off so it didn't snap the strut bolts, or ream out the holes in the fender.

It was more an experiment, and was never driven that way.
