Default Craigslist HID..of course an issue

Well this Sunday while day dreaming about the exhaust I get this week, I did some shopping on craigslist and came across a guy selling HID’s for $70. I wanted something to do so I snagged them up. They are the H13 Helio HID’s @ 6000k. It was roughly 5pm so I tried to quickly install them but immediately ran into trouble. I removed the OEM bulb by rotating and pulling. I then went to line up the new HID bulb (there is 2 small tabs and 1 fat tab that should line up with corresponding holes). I am able to line up the tabs but the new bulb will not go into the housing. I’m not sure what about the new bulb is catching. I am staring right at it through my headlights, I line up the holes (it looks like there is clearance) but I cannot push the new bulbs in. I’m not sure if they are cheap and its just the outher diameter of the plastic on the hid which is too big or what. I know this is a hailmary but has anyone had any similar issues with HID bulbs, or did I buy a cheap product? They don’t look terribly cheap. I am thinking of trying to shave down the plastic and see if they slide in then…I tried both bulbs and neither would slide in. The OEM bulb is easy to put back in.

There is a rubber gasket on the bulbs and sometimes the O ring/gasket thing doesnt come out with the old bulb when you remove it. The new bulb probably has an o-ring/gasket and you may be trying to force it in with 2 of the gaskets. I did this and almost messed up my headlight

Andy thanks for the tip, that wasn't the issue however that did end up happening to me and luckily I was prepared. I messaged the guy and he told me to rip off the tabs that you grab the bulb by to twist on or off. I cut those off and they ended up fitting. Was able to install on my lunch break (will have to clean it up and zip tie wires later). It was a sinch, and they look good in the daylight.

Yeah for some reason I have always had to cut/rip off those tabs you speak of.

OP, you'll probably just need to remove the O-ring or shave one of the tabs down slightly to get the bulb to fit. That's not an indicator of cheap kit, it might require a little adjustment to install the kit.

Our HID conversion kits start at $89 btw and the ballasts have a lifetime warranty!

Just my .02

Well I think the CL hid's already gave out. My passenger side low (hid) is not working but the high beam (none hid) is...

Question: is there fuse that just controls the passenger side low beam? Or is this a ballast and or bulb issue.

I suggest switching the bulb from one side to the other to determine if it's the actual bulb
