I have been considering the same thing. I also have 17's but an 01. I do have a Cobra R front bumper with splitter and dont want to worry about it rubbing. think 1-1/4" front and rear enough?

otherwise if it still leaves an ugly gap i may wait til i get some 18s.
I cannot believe American Muscle told you that, you need a bunch of bars and bolts. Call back and talk to Tony who is a real nice guy and will led you in the right direction. I bought springs for mine from AM ( Eibach Pro-Kit Lowering Springs only ($239.99) lowered it 1" frt and 1- 1/2" rear. here is a pic, but remember I have 19" Staggard wheels and Tire package ( $1700.00 ) that I also got from AM.

Stock ride height blows.
I had my 2014 GT for 2 weeks before I did suspension on it.
Drop it a bit, even a little bit.

I was thinking of lowering the car, but since I only have 17 and not 18" rims, would it look any better, or should I just keep the stock height? I was thinking of dropping 1.5" back and front, it wouldn't rub right?
Here's my Redfire GT, lowered on 17s.

These stangs above look great lowered! However I have seen where some are so low the top of the tire disappears behind the wheel well or the tires actually rub the car. When I see that, it makes me think something is wrong with the suspension.

You think right I think, tires and wheels should not come in contact with body parts .... and under normal circumstances, chassis parts should not touch pavement.

You don't need a bunch of bars and bolts. Just springs. And yes, lowering it makes it look better. I guess my question would be are you planning on doing this work yourself?

I'm going to get it done at a shop, but I talked to a few AM people and they said in order to get a proper alignment, along with the springs you need some bolts and camber plates?
