Default Quik-Latch Hood pins

Just finished this project up this past weekend. Really love 'em. Holds the hood solid as a rock, and no loose pins to lose or lanyards to mess up the paint:

Very clean, I like them

Looks less obtrusive than these which I've been considering...

How much were yours or are they a custom job?

I actually bought a set of Aerocatchs, looked them over and ended up selling them on eBay. Construction on them was ok, but the visible portion on the hood looked too "import tuner-ish" for an S197 in my view, and the pins under the hood were pretty ugly in my opinion (I do shows, so how things look with the hood open counts). The Quik-Latch pins are very unobtrusive, look slick, and their spherical tops are not going to disembowel you if you need to lean over them for engine chores.

Quik-Latch pricing is definitely higher, but for construction you're looking at mostly plastic for the Aerocatch vs machined aluminum and polished stainless on the Quik-Latch.

Can't give you an idea on install, as I did mine entirely myself except for having a skilled welder TIG the inserts I made into the radiator support (that ran $40)

Lol, I'm doing those on a 68 Camaro right now...

Did you put a brace under the hood skin for reinforcement?
Cause if not, it's gonna suck it in eventually.

Not too likely Pascal. The hood is pretty thick fibreglass, but I know what you mean on the stock aluminum hoods.

I did add some reinforcing rings to the underside though, but more to spread any shock from the hood closing and pins engaging over a wider area.

I've seen it happen on fiberglass too but you should be OK if it's thick enough indeed.
