2006 Mustang gt stripe questions
Hey guys, so I decided to remove the stripes on my new mustang since they are fading and don't look very good because of it.
This is what it looked like prior to doing anything, I removed the 2 thin stripes on both sides of the large stripes from the hood to the rear bumper as well as the 2 stripes on both sides of the car down by the rocker panels. They came off pretty easy with a heat gun. Then I tried to work on the large stripes, and I can not for the life of me get them started and when I scrape and pick at it it flakes almost like paint. My questions are, did these cars ever come with painted matte black stripes? How do you really tell if they are painted vs vinyl? Could it be that they have been on so long and pretty much just baked themselves so much that it is making it way harder to get off? Thanks for any help you guys can provide.

That's what I was thinking. But I wanted to get some other opinions. I tried using a heat gun and a plastic razor to get up under it but I didn't have any luck. Has anyone ever tried one of those 3M eraser wheels? I may pick one of those up and see if that works.

If the sun has deteriorated the stripes this bad, chances are the paint is severely faded and the stripes will be very evident even after removal
It may be necessary to just sand them off an reprint the hood
