Default AMR's or Nova Wheels?

Hey guys, so I'm getting ready to start doing some suspension mods. Things like wheels, tires, shocks, struts, springs, etc. So that when I go to do a supercharger I can put that power to the ground better. I think I'm going to go wheels first, I was thinking about doing either 19" staggered silver AMR's, or 20" staggered American racing Nova wheels, here is are links to both

I like the Nova wheels more but I'm not sure if 20's would look to big on a 2006 GT. Also do 20's put power down any worse than a 19" wheel? What is everyone's opinion on 20's on the S197, do you think they look to big?

OP-

Good questions here. While The 20" is going to fill up the wheel well a little better you can still run a really wide tire on a 19". I think making the jump from a 17" or 18" to a 20" would really make the ride that much worse as well. When it comes time to pick up a new set of rear tires as well they're going to be somewhat more expensive than 19's as well. I would shoot for the 19's based on their price and what they're going to do for the ride quality. When you're planning on dropping the car in the future you're less likely to run into fitment issues as well. You can definitely get away with a 20" and a slight drop but if you're making a U turn or about to head up a steep drive way you're going to rub a touch. Make sure you shoot me a PM if you don't have our discount code and I'll get you set up! Let me know if you have any questions and I'm here to help!

19" staggered silver AMR's...love the look! would be lighter and perform better...but I have 20's and no issues and I love the look on the S197's...19's vs 20's has been debated for a very long time...what it all boils down to is personal preference...if any internet fighting or crazy huge debate ensues then the thread gets locked...be tasteful and tactful and respectful and by all means state your opinion but remember ...opinions are like a$$holes...everyone has one and many of them stink!!!...enjoy the forum guys!

Why the Rant?
I have been on this forum since 05-06 and a moderator since 06 and many threads have been locked removed or members banned for nasty comments, remarks, or opinions with this very debate...19's or 20's

try a search....thx...MYGT500..site moderator!!!!!!...

I went with 18 AMR in silver, really pops on Vista Blue.
Sounds like you got bit by the Mod Bug...

Do the AMR so you can go to a Big Brake Kit later on. That is why I went with these.
Makes the car look a bit more up to date as compared to the bullets and a old school look.

As mygt500 said above, people have been debating rim sizes for years now....and it will only continue. It's a matter of opinion. Me personally, I'm a huge fan of 20's on these cars....while others hate 20's and love 18's & 19's.

I suggest getting what YOU like and want....because if you don't, you will regret it later on.

Good luck!

Thanks for the help guys. Here is another question for anyone who knows. How safe is it to have a wheel widened? Because I still really like the Nova wheels but I think I have decided on 18". Only downside is the Nova wheels only come in 18x9. Would I have any issues if I widened the rear wheels another 1.5 inches or so?
