Default AM Hood strut kit

http://www.americanmuscle.com/black-hoodstrut-1012.html

I just ordered this hood strut kit from American Muscle and it should arrive tomorrow. Has anyone installed one of these kits on their S197 and how did the job go? Any problems or glitches to look out for? Thanks.

Don

I installed on my 2012 and it's pretty straight forward, just follow the directions that come with it and you'll have no problems.

Hey Don - Thanks so much for your support and business we appreciate it!

I've installed a set on our '14 (They install the very same) and they're a piece of cake. If anything I might just have another set of hands around as it's always nice to have a little bit of help.

The only thing that I would suggest is to keep an eye on number 4 on the instructions (Right here!)

(Do Not Install The Bracket Between The Hood Hinge & The Hood!)

Everything else if pretty self-explanatory though.

Make sure to have the following ready to rock as well.

- Flat Head
- Ratchet w/ Extention
- 10mm & 13mm Sockets

Shoot us a call if you have any questions or let me know and we're here to help.

Alex

No experience with the AM kit, but I installed a Red Line Tuning kit on my '06 GT. I also installed one on my 2000 GT and my wife's '08 Miata. I have one I have yet to install on my '85 Mustang GT. I love not having to fool with that stupid hood rod. Good luck with your install. Let us know how it goes.

Hey, since this is here. Hood strut related, I was taking mine off, and the fender bolt broke. I have extracted it. Best place to get a replacement? hardware store? I seen the AM under hood bolt kit, very nice, but not looking to do that right now.

Also, be aware, if mounting these on a fiberglass hood, it will leave it bowed when closed. For that reason I only put mine on for shows, or working on it. I thought someone made a set for fiberglass hoods......
