Tough Call: 04 Mach 1 or 07 GT
Hey guys, I really need your opinions on this one, I currently have a 06 v6 mustang, but I plan on building up my credit so that I can get a more powerful mustang within my budget in about 6 months. I am either going to go with a 04 Mach 1 with low miles or a new 07 GT when they come out. I am really stuck on this one.

The Mach 1 will be cheaper and if you are going 5spd the Mach is a little quicker stock for stock. You need to decide which body style you like better and which interior you like better.

Hey toneloc, welcome!
Let's see, to me it's a no brainer--2007 all the way! But as folks here have been saying, it's really time for you to have a chit-chat with yourself about what you want. Here's a couple of things to consider that haven't been brought up yet:
1. The new Mustangs have a superior chassis and suspension--so if future mods are in your mind, the foundation is better with the `07.
2. Resale value may be an issue down the road if you don't plan on keeping this car for the long haul--and the new Mustangs are holding their ground better than the previous generation (at least that's my sense of it, others feel free to chime in).
3. You spoke of financing--you'll have a higher interest rate for a used car than for a new car (this is not Mustang specific, just a common banking practice).
I guess I'm suggesting you don't just think of what matters to you now (interior, body style, immediate performance), but you also think about the things that will matter to you down the road--after you've stopped smiling just because it's a new ride for you. On the whole, I think the new Mustangs are a hands-down winner. They rolled off the factory floor as instant classics with massive fanfare and popular appeal, and I don't think anyone would even think of complimenting the previous generation by saying the same of them. To me, that spells staying power: in mods, in resale, in the market, and in your heart. But of course, ultimately it's your ride and your choice. Good luck with building your credit.
Best,

I heard they are coming out with a new Mach 1 sometime during or after the release of Shelby. That's what I like to get in the
future. Considering you will have a faster car than the GT and a warranty that backs it up.

RE: Tough Call: 04 Mach 1 or 07 GT
thx for all of your opinions, I have pretty much narrowed it down to this:
The GT pros and cons:
-better interior
-better finance rate
-overall better quality make
-would spend more $ for mods=less $ in bank account
Mach1 pros over GT:
-shaker hood
-cheaper
-keep it stock=more $ in bank account
It is still a tough choice for me because I equally like both, so it will come down to what is available when I am ready to trade in my car. I pretty much have my mind set on another black mustang, and the only other color I would get for a Mach 1 is white. Availability and price is going to ultimately choose for me.
