Default Bass rattles trunk bad.

I put my 2 MTX thunder 5500 12"s with a pioneer 760watt amp in the trunk using the factory shaker 500 and wow thats a lot of bass. I have my output on my amp turned down and the setting on the RCA out adapter turned down. If I turn bass above 3 on the stereo my trunk vibrates HORRIBLY bad. A guy at a car audio store told me they had been hitting the trunk latch with a hammer a few times to stop the rattling but it makes it kind of hard to open the trunk afterwards. Anyone with experience doing this or deadening the bass so that there is no more rattle? Opinions?

dynomat or any other sound lessening liner. Place it in the trunk, it works well.

anyone have good subs in their trunk? A guy at an audio store told me the dynomat is actually not going to do a whole lot. He thinks its all the stuff inside the trunk latch box making the noise and advised just duct taping it down real tight to see what happens.

You can get minimally expanding foam in a can that will help fill the voids in your trunk. I did this with a sentra and used some knock off dynamat and it was pretty much rattle free. I'm not exactily sure what he is talking about but it may be the latch. Make sure you don't get the super expanding foam as it can mess up the trunk lid, get the minimally expanding stuff. If its the latch you may be SOL.

Well if you listen to Frank Sinatra or Dean Martin, you will not have any problems with rattles... (Ha-Ha)

No Dynomat needed...

I have a JL 10W7, puts out a lot of powerfull bass. I used dynamat extreme on the trunk lid and the rear deck and the rear fenders. Also found that the license plate rattles, I covered the back with the velcro fuzzy half, dynamat also makes a license plate kit ( dont know what the diff is from regular dynamat) The only rattle I get is comming from somewhere by the pass 1/4 window, it doesn't happen all the time so I don't worry about it. I forgot, the trunk does still rattle a bit but its not to noticable.

You can get a good price on dynamat extreme bulk packs on ebay. I ended up not even using half the bulk pack so you could split it with a friend or just put it everywhere!!

I put an MTX Thunderform in mine last night - sounds good on the inside (where it matters most), no rattles that I can hear. My trunk lid and license plate rattle some, but I don't care what it sounds like on the outside

I wouldn't shell out the big $$$ for dynamat, I'd get a knock off:

http://www.b-quiet.com/

I think I may have gotten the second sites stuff but it was like 4 years ago.
