RE: my new best e.t. & mph N/A with an auto

they are really nice.i had to use them for the l/t headers. there are some clearance issues on the steering shaft requiring their use. i think if you drive hard often they are a good idea. those stock ones allow the engine to move quite a bit. thats not good for anything but noise and vibration reduction. my engine was moving over on hard right turns and pressing on the steering shaft (the headers pressed so hard the steering locked briefly) which caused me to nearly poo my pants on an exit at 80mph one day. i have always had bad luck trying to carve corners so i'll just stick to drag racing.

LOL well I'm glad you didn't poo your pants. Sounds like a good reason to me to get new mounts.

Great job, Ron! How was the track conditions? I really thought you would have had a better 60' with the bogarts on.... 1.7 is still good, don't get me wrong, but with the skinnies up front, I really expected somewhere in the 1.5's. What is your current HP and torque? And did you say you're using the et streets and not a true slick? What tire pressure did you have in the rear? The et streets are VERY finicky with pressure. After scores of tests, I found the best pressure to be 11.5 - 12.5 and a great (12+sec) burnout to heat them back up to around 13.5 - congrats all around - very impressive for n/a.... the fastest I've heard of yet.

Ron, that's very impressive! I've read lots of numbers trying to get a good expectation for my car and I must say, that's the best N/A I've seen! I have a tungsten 06 GT that I'm building for drag/show. I know it's an odd combination because the 1 somewhat limits the other but I'm not doing either for money or trophies, just for fun. I have the full Cervini's body kit that is going to be installed in your home town. I plan to go with one of the many superchargers on the market to shoot for a little over 400 RWHP. Sounds like at least a few of us can get together at Mason Dixon. I'm about 7 miles from that track. I'll be the goof-ball racing with 20" wheels... [&o] -Joe

RE: my new best e.t. & mph N/A with an auto

yeah i was at mason dixon on sunday. i tried to get there staurday but just had so much to do to get ready for FL.
i started off with 15lbs of airpressure then went to 17...then 19. i stayed at 19 since it didn't spin. i need alot of testing for chassis and tire pressure adjustments but it close enough to go to NMRA this weekend. i think i can get the 60' times in the 1.60-1.65 range with some more time and adjusting. man i wish strange or koni would make a 90/10 strut for these things. i just don't know about those d-specs for a drag setup. good for street/strip but i want max 60' times. an adjustable strut has to be coming(other than the $2K santhuff's) from somebody. anyway 1.72 best with an auto,3.73's and n/a seems to be very good compared with other cars i've read about. i'm having the shift points raised, the 3-4 firmed up alot and low speed conv. lockup loosened a bit more. i'm hoping for 12.50's in FL.
we will have to hook up at MD later this month.
there are only two 15" wheels that will clear our brakes on the rear: 1.bogarts 2.weld racing's XP series(discontinued but obtainable used). you will need to use a sway bar relocation bracket or make one. it's very simple to install with hand tools and a hacksaw/sawzall...15-20 minutes.
