Default Car Is In The Shop

Here is what the body shop just sent me:

"Just got the estimate in ., they came up with $8428.56 total.' figuring a $500 used hood, new roof skin, new rt quarter panel, aftermarket front fenders, and either paintless dent removal or repair on the rest., I will talk to my pdr guy and we may try some pdr on the front fenders, or if we do replace them i will get fenders from ford., but i will get started with what i have anyway "

Anyway, I am going to have the following done:

1. Reuse the non-functional hood scoop. Only need a functional one if you are going 90+ MPH anyway.
2. Use the 69 Mach I hood paint design on the hood.
3. Since the side C-Stripes have to be replaced, I am going with a refelctive set.
4. Paint the trunk lid between the tail lights black.
5. Install chrome hood pins.
6. Paint the top outside edge of the spoiler black.
7. Install the CDC louvered quarter window scoops.
8. Install the Street Scene rear bumper valance.

I just hope it all looks good when I get done with the car.

Good luck with the rebuild 05gt. I know you and profesor wizard got hit hard in that hail storm. Any word on his fix? I pick my stang up today after 15 days at the shop but mine was mechanical. I took her in for regular service and to have the front end checked for alignment. (pulled slightly to left) any way they found a leak in the power steering and wanted to replace parts....Well anyways it took like 2 weeks to get parts. Your pony will look good again when shes done

I believe PW has his back already. His wasn't quite as bad as mine from what he says. The only thing that I have a problem with is the insurance company wants to use used parts on my baby. I am waiting for an answer back from the body shop if I should raise cain about that or if it was OK to use the used parts. I know it has only been a little over a year for this car style but I hate the thought of used parts.

Effing insurance companies man. [:@] Best of luck to you. I'll send a "get well" card to your stang, if it helps.

what happened
3 weeks ago a hail storm came through this area and caused all that damage. Almost every exterior part on the car was damaged except for any plastic or fiberglass.

Blue...

I can't wait to see the finished product.

My car is done... looks GREAT... good people down there at Dent Devil!

Now... DD had to have American Family send a guy out to shop to argue UP the estimate.

Orginal Estimate $750
Revised Estimate $1,200

Actual Cost was $1,349

Because Dent Devil is a minor sponsor for my car, he wrote off the difference.... if I were a guy off the street, I would have had to cover the extra 149 bucks.

I have a $500 deductible.... so I have to pay that part.

By the way... I had to put the charges on my Credit Card to get my car out of the shop... still no sign if a check from American Family. I called, they tell me it was mailed last week... I have a fealing they are going to be a PITA to bring this to a conclusion.

I'm not at all happy with dealing my claim with American Family and will VERY likely be Insurance Shopping next month!
