1/8 mile times :D
this was my first time drag racing.. ever... and I don't think I did too bad. This was at the 1/8 mile Sunshine Dragstrip in St. Petersburg florida, and they had just refinished the surface so it was a bit slick. Mods are: C&L intake, brenspeed 93octane tune, and borla catback. When I get the headers, 3.73, and aluminum driveshaft in, I expect to see some much better times.
The first run was the best one as far as et goes, it was an 8.839 at 82.12mph. r/t: 1.067, 60': 2.151 On that one there was almost NO tire spin on 35psi.
The second run i was going to not go through the water pit, but the center was closed off so i had to. I had dropped the psi to 15 but i think that was waaay too low. I couldnt remember whether it was 15 or 25 was the right amount. Anyways I spun through first and half of second for an et of 9.156 at 81.33mph, 60': 2.331
third run, the same thing happened. 9.066 at 81.85mph, 60': 2.297
and the fourth and final run was the same thing AGAIN. 9.046et at 81.55, 60': 2.277
The only thing that did improve was the reaction time, as i got more and more used to it i was trying to push the limit more. Next time i go i'll be trying to redlight to see how close i can get.
The time were (in order):
1.067
.954
.881
.827
On the plus plus side i didn't lose to anyone lol
Tomorrow I am going to bradenton to run the 1/4, and see what happens there.

RE: 1/8 mile times :D
Okay, I run 1/8 all the time.
Run your tires at 20PSI. Fronts at 35+ (to reduce friction.)
Launch your car right in it's "itch" zone (as in, right where you can feel the car twitching against the powerbraking.)
This netted me several 8.7s, 8.8s, and an 8.6 on shatty track (before Exhaust mod ior Diablo auto tranny revision.)
[Edit] On the subject of RTs, don't leave when the green light lights up. Leave on the Third Yellow light. This will cut your RTs by about .1-.2
Be careful not to aticipate the third yellow though or you'll redlight. [/Edit]
Great times for a first run!
Have fun at the 1/4, dude!

RE: 1/8 mile times :D
60' 2.028
1/8 8.539@83.58
1/4 13.227@104.32
Heres my time from the other night, everything was close to that. My tire pressure was stock. Just work on that launch. Going back tommorow, hoping to cut a 1.99

I wouldn't even worry about your reaction time when you're just trying to figure out whats the best way to launch the car. Once you've got the launch down, and you're seeing the kind of numbers that you're happy with. Then give some thought to the reaction. It doesn't mean a thing unless you're bracket racing, or in a heads up class.
