Loudmouths = Torque Loss ?
 

Hey everyone. I installed the SLP Loudmouths on my 05 GT. It has a C&L intake and SCT tune. I noticed somewhat of a loss in torque at higher RPMs. This is most noticeable on the highway in 5th gear. Before installing the SLPs I would feel a good amount of torque stepping on it in 5th gear going about 85-90 MPH. Now I don't really feel that anymore. It seems like it takes a little longer to go from something like 80-100 while keeping it in 5th gear. Maybe I should get this car on a dyno to confirm and remedy this problem. Anyone else experiencing this??? Could I make some user-level adjustments on my XCAl2 to fix it?

there were 3-4 other people complaining that they felt they had lost some power as well about a month ago.

i suppose its very possible since these cars rely a lot on backpressure for torque. I have the slp's on also but put them on at 100 miles on the car so not a lot of feedback with the stock exhaust on here.

yeah, the only time i drove my mustang with stock exhaust was from the dealership to my house :P lol

actually what im thinking maybe, the dramatic drop in backpressue may hurt us now but when we start producing big hp numbers itll benefit us? like when we go forced induction etc, i dunno just a guess? maybe we need a tune for them because of such a change in the backpressure? any ideas

I agree. I would suspect that changing to the SLP's may have affected your tune.

I run the same pipes. My GT runs very well in 5th gear.

I swapped mine around because I thought the same thing but after doing so I couldn't tell one way or the other without a dyno. My ET's have got nothing but better so the pipes will stay until someone has actual numbers to back up their claim.

I will quiz the tuner the next time I dyno since, like everyone else, I want my numbers to go up, not the other direction.
