Cant Get the Stupid key out!

Cant Get the Stupid key out!
Anyone else have this problem? lately, after I put the car in part (AT) to get out of the car, I turn the key to OFF and then I cant get the key out! I can fix the problem by turning the key back ON, putting the car in drive, back into park, and then it comes out. What a pain. Any ideas??

It's happened a few times to me over the year I've had mine, usually it's because the shifter isn't all the way forward. I give it an extra nudge and that's enough to get the key out.

yes, i had the same problem. i have an automatic as well. when the temperature gets below 30f, even after driving the car for half an hour, i am unable to remove the key from the ignition switch. there was one night where it took almost 3 hrs before i got my key out. i went to the dealer and the whole shifter was replaced under warranty. they replaced part#5r3z-7210-e. good luck.
