I haven't had this problem and I cruise over 70 mph every chance I get.

I haven't had problems with my hood until I got my intake a tune. I took her over 110MPH and noticed my hood was shaking up and down. Scared me, somewhat, but there's no way I'm going to stick pins in my hood. Maybe if I had stripes, maybe if I had a scoop, but my hood is as plain as can be and I like it that way.

The hood popped open at 30 mph on my '85 GT when it was only a couple of years old. Almost $2k worth of damage at that time (1987-ish).

Of course it was operator error; I didn't close it right [:@]

Had the same problem until I twisted all of the rubber stops out 1/4 of a turn. This tightens the hood down against the stops firmer. Since then - no hood shaking going on.

Yep. Same thing. Cruising home from Dallas last week, cruising @ 110 for a stretch, back of hood shook like crazy. But, overall, with the hood pins, no worries.

When i watch racing on TV, it seems that they usually have 4 hood pins!

is that becaues they don't have a center latch?

Redfire you are correct; There are 4 rubber adjusters stops along the front support area under the leading edge of the hood. I used chalk on them to see if they were touching the hood when closed (2 weren't at all). Back them out some if this is the case. The way I close my hood is to drop it from about 18"up. From much less than that it won't shut because of the compression on these stops. I don't see any movement at 100+.

The back of mine starts floating at 100+ but I'm going to try that little trick with the chalk and see if my hood is rigged properly. Good tip.
