Default Looking for High output Alternator

I'm looking to upgrade my alt and I'm not sure about what brand to go with. I found 2 so far in my search.
Summit has a powermaster 200 amp chromeplated for $490.
Pa performance has a 200 amp bare alluminum for $350 or chrome plated for $570 pa performance
I think I'll skipp the extra $220 for chrome plating[sm=forgetit.gif]

I'd just like some advise from someone who has an aftermarket alt or a buddy who has one. Brand names, where to buy, and links please!

Also I thought about painting the bare alluminum alt. Is it possible to take the housing apart without tinny pieces falling everywhere or the need for special tools? I am an aircraft mechanic so I can handle taking things apart and putting them back together. But I have no idea what is under the housing. It would suck to take it apart and find out I cann't put it back together[:@]
Any help is appreciatied[sm=thanx.gif]

(I also posted in electronics)

Default RE: Looking for High output Alternator

go do some searches over at forums.sounddomain.com, there is a poster over there whose company makes some top notch upgraded alts for decent price. i almost got one for my last car (97 stang), and a 250amp alt would have been 300-350 IIRC.
