As far as I can tell, the rear speakers are getting a full range of sound with the Skanker 500, most likely the doors are crossed.

I have been looking at these for the stock location: Kicker SSMB8 (see link below)

They are under the "Mids & Tweets" tab and are the "SS" Series 8" drivers. They are made by one of the best Subwoofer manufacturers and they are a shalow mount. They can handle 175 Watts RMS and go down to 30Hz, so they should be a great candidate for an aftermarket amp, if they fit...
What do you think?
Also, does the stock amp power to the 6x8 speakers in the doors and rear deck have a hi-pass crossover on them to keep the bass out? Is it all directed to to subs in the doors?

JJ_Stang Thanks for the link! I've been looking for those answers about the stock door subs. I'm surprised they are DVC.
Not to hi-jack the thread, but does anyone know the mounting depth of the upper component speakers in the doors? Will 6x9s fit in the door?

is there not a cover for those door subs?
i was thinking about running a line from the back of my S500 (connected to a line-out of course for the rca's) to the trunk and hook up my sub and amp. bad thing is i don't know how much overall sound is going to filter to the sub rather than just pure bass.

No cover... just need to be careful when getting in and out.
As for the wiring. The door subs are running off the front left and right leads on the S500. They are crossed at the amps. You can run new wire to them and run them separately letting the S500 power the front upper door speakers and rear deck speakers.

is that your car with the RF 8 in the door? IF so do you have any better pics? Also, was there anything custom require to get them installed there?
