From what I hear my local dealership is allowed 2, but they are most likely going to send them off to be auctioned, because they are going to make so much money... I really don't understand why someone would want to buy a $50-70k Mustang... Cobra name or not, just not worth it.

RE: The GT-500
My dealer was so kind to give me a calll today ...........I asked him to
give me a 'ring' when he's got infos on the GT500 because I AM (was)
interested .....HOWEVER, once he told me the price would be $ 85.000,-
I told him Thank you but NO THANK YOU ........[:@]
Don't get me wrong, I think it is an AWESOME vehicle, BUT NOT WORTH
$ 40.000,- over MSRP ............for that price I get a Viper and the VIPER
WILL hold it's price over the years !
Soooooo..........for the time being until the dealers come back to their
senses I decided to keep the GT and forget about 'shelby'

Doesn't make sense to me to charge MSRP or even $10k over MSRP if you can get $20k or $40k over MSRP...what dealer or person WOULDN'T do this....
Thats like buying a house that's worth $200k... you offer the owners $300k and they say "no no, all we really want is $200k"...that's just nuts....
I say gouge the public! Those who can afford an 80,000 mustang won't necessarily care that it's $40k over MSRP b/c it's not about price.
...here's one i saw in denver a few months ago...(since we're on the subject)

RE: The GT-500
Honestly... I don't care about the name Shelby this, or Shelby that. -- Actually... when I think of my all time favorite Mustang... It's not Shelby at all. It's BOSS!
Sure the Shelby might come from the factory with a larger engine, more power, better suspension/brakes/whatever else... but for the price you'd pay for the Shelby you can do all that work yourself, and most likely for a lot less. The only thing I am looking forward to, is the Aftermarket products that will arise when the Shelby comes out. I am interested in the larger, beefier grille.. but I want my fog lamps in the 05/06 Style Grille mounted, and to get rid of those crappy 90s looking fog lamps that the 07 GT 500 has in the lower fascia.

RE: The GT-500
I'll bet people were saying the same things about Shelbys 40 years ago...inflation included, the value of those Shelbys has shot up since then. If I would have had the opportunity then and I didnt take it I'd be kicking myself. In fact I'd be mad if I got rid of a stock 66 before they became a classic. Sure the values might drop for 10 or 20 years but after that your set. So if you're young then I say go for it. I would guess that people will be able to get them when they come out though so I wouldnt worry about that...thanks eBay Motors

RE: The GT-500
I had been holding out for the GT500 convertible but after driving the new GT, and investigating markups and allocations, I ordered a plain old GT today. The GT500 will be a great collectors car but it will be too overpriced for quite some time and there is so much that can be done with a GT for so much less if the 300 hp is not enough.
I'd rather drive a new GT now rather than "maybe" get a GT500 in a couple of years. But then again, in a couple of years I can always upgrade if needed...

RE: The GT-500
Why not wait a few years and buy one for half that price, hell you can get a 00-04 Cobra for under 30 right now,low miles.Lets say they do hold the value then you still pay the 80 grand but I would wait and see, thats alot of money just to have what the jones don't have.
I understand (kinda) why people are buying first model years, but will they hold there value? Remaines to be seen,me I don't see it.
Just becuse it is an $80,000 car new does not mean in 5 years it will be able to be sold at the same price,I bought a 2002 Land Rover Discovery HSE with 22,000 miles for 16 grand, new they were over 40 grand.
If you want a car that might hold it's value,I say might becuse there will not be a whole lot of them and it will have Shelbys name look into a CS6,I was looking at getting one but I don't care for the look, you have to buy a V6 but you can have Shelby auto do the conversion meaning this will be made at his company not a Ford plant.
Be honest if I have that amount in cash I would skip, sorry I would be in a viper or something, course if you take 80 grand add the 30 grand that some dealers are asking to reserve one I would have an Aston Martin,if I was rich and was a car collector ya I would park it next to my my 30 other cars I just look at.
