RE: Question about 'Break in Oil'
Yep i agree. Mobil 1 Is good stuff that is what i run in all my cars and truck and will also be doing so in the new Mustang when it arrives.
I would also suggest a quality oil filter NO FRAM. And change it every 5k

RE: Question about 'Break in Oil'
I would change it NOW...!! as per the the owners manual.. (change oil and filter every 3,000 miles).. at least that is what I thought I read..
I also would go with a full Synthetic oil and a OEM filter.. but that is just me.. you can buy them ( oil filters ) cheap at
www.fordparts.com
if you want to do it yourself .. if not let the dealer do it.. I wouldn't let any kid at Jiffy lube change my oil on my brand new car...[sm=badidea.gif]
I also have a 06 GT.. only have 600 miles on her so far...

RE: Question about 'Break in Oil'
I'm a little crazy plus I run my car pretty hard regularly at the track so I change my oil every 1200 miles. I use mobile 1 synthetic and the mobile 1 oil filter. You should definitely change your oil as you owners manual suggests...

RE: Question about 'Break in Oil'
WalMart carries the Motorcraft FL-820S for $3.28 Can't beat that. I just did my first oil change this week and it's nice and simple with the filter real easy acccss. I made some ramps from 2X10's laid flat and that makes it a breeze.

RE: Question about 'Break in Oil'
No such thing as break-in oil. It's normal, off-the-shelf oil. Sometimes, if the assembly lube is a moly-paste (like Hondas), the paste "fortifies" the oil with moly, giving the oil some solid lubricant that, in theory, helps break-in.
I would change it. In fact, I change all new motors oil at 600 miles, 3000 miles and at 5000 miles, at which point, I switch to a better quality oil like Amsoil. Notice I don't say synthetic, as any oil can be labelled "synthetic" and not have any "man-made" bases stocks what-so-ever.

RE: Question about 'Break in Oil'
I changed my oil at 1,000 miles, and plan to do the next at 3,000 (mostly to get back on an easy to remember number).
What I "know" of oils, I've only gotten through what I've heard:
1. I heard that the first oil change should be sooner than 3K (pref. under 1K) to take away with the first oil change anything that may have shaved/scuffed off during the break-in period.
2. I heard that if you are going to switch to synthetic you should first go with a blend for one cycle, then do full synthetic on the next.
3. But then again, I've heard conflicting accounts on what our cars come with from the factory, regular or blend.
Since all of this would be resolved by 6,000 miles, I don't think it is a loss to go with one round of blend before you do full synthetic. Just a thought.
Best,

RE: Question about 'Break in Oil'
well i am not going to get into a flame war regarding oil changes in regard to miles between; but to correct your post the recommended interval is 5000 miles between posts; Jiffy lube has made this a 3000 mile 3 month myth to keep the money coming into their pockets; i have two other fords with nearly 100000 miles on them and changed the oil regularly at 5000 miles with the recommended grade 5-30 not synthetic and both are in perfect condition.
as i said above you need to do what is right for you.
