Yesterday I attempted to factory order a 06 GT vert from my local dealership. I offered $725 over invoice and they countered with a bottom line of $1500 over invoice.

I have read similar stories from American owners, but was hoping to do better. What was the lowest mark-up any of you were able to get from a Canadian dealership?

You are talking about $1,500 over INVOICE, meaning, over the dealer's cost. That's a good deal.

I was under the impression that our American friends were referring to paying more than the MSRP sticker price.

Yeah I was referring to $1500 over dealer invoice.

yeah, that's a pretty good deal for this time of year but it wouldn't hurt to shop around. you might save a couple hundred dollars but these cars are in demand so the dealers don't really have to move too much on them.

Call another dealer or two and tell them that you will order "X" with "X" options if they will beat $1,500 over invoice. They do it all over the phone these days.

Most dealers in the mid-atlantic region of the US are currently looking for around $1000 below MSRP. My order was placed the other day for $100 over factory invoice, which will be about $3000 below MSRP. I did have another dealer willing to sell me a car in stock (blue GT vert) at that price, but it wasn't quite what I was looking for.

It took some doing this time, but only once in 20 years have I ever "had" to pay more than $100 over invoice for an american car. Sometimes you gotta push, sometimes you gotta wait, and sometimes you gotta just walk away.....

Placing an order is one thing. Of course the deal is never done until you are driving off the lot in the new car.
