Default High Horsepower and Insurance?

I picked up my GT last week. I'm planning on doing quite a few modifications including a turbocharger. Are you guys with superchargers/turbos getting the grief I'm getting from your insurance company?

Likewise, when I get it in, if they don't ask, I won't tell. Hell, even if the ask, I won't tell. My insurance is high enough as it is...

I've found insurance since I first posted. I thought about keeping my mouth shut, but then I started worrying. I haven't been in a wreck since my teens, but what if....I get in a terrible wreck, a kid runs in front of me, etc. I can just see the attorneys for an insurance company now "Hey! We weren't insuring a 500 effn hp car! You're on your own bud."

Maybe it doesn't work that way, but it doesn't seem worth the risk for a few bucks in insurance premiums.

Have you tried State Farm? Geico and Allstate won't even insure a Saleen. I have had excellent luck with State farm.

My boyfriend has American Family. They don't even have a catagory for Saleen. (he has an 05 Saleen) It says Cobra R on his insurance card.

They don't insure horsepower, they insure the car for what it's worth, 10,000hp or 300hp it's still a Mustang GT. Now if you're abusing it and are the cause of a serious wreck drag racing or something, you're screwed anyway.
