Default New Hurst Competition/Plus Shifter?

Hey all,

I am thinking about changing my stock shifter to the NEW HURST COMPETITION/PLUS SHIFTER (Part #391 0201) http://go.mrgasket.com/Brands.aspx?B...andselection=6

I was wondering if any of you have bought this and if you can give some opinions on them. I am new to all this and don't know the schematics but I quickly learn.

I just need to know if this is a good shifter and if its out already and where I can buy it. All opinions welcome!

I have had mine for several months now and love it! Nice looking (Retro with the chrome stick and white ball), very functional and nice and tight shifts. Never miss third again even with the engine torque. A simple install once you have the car up on stands.

But what about the horror stories about rattling on 2nd and 3rd gear or sometimes 4th gear during high RPMS?

Also, this is the NEW hurst, is this the one you have? The new one was JUST recently introduced. I am inquring about the new one, the old one is fine but I rather have the new one.

I have never experienced any noise from mine. The new one looks to be a billet one so most likely no noise issues with that one either. I suppose most noise issues are caused by the install. Not to loose... not too tight... just right!

The 0201 has been out for awhile now. The 5201 is the new one that was upgraded with a billet aluminum rail like the PRO5.0 one. I have heard goos things of the 0201, but am still looking at my options as well. The 5201 looks like a good improvement over the 0201, though!

I found a shop that sells it: http://www.carshopinc.com/product_in...ducts_id=84775

http://go.mrgasket.com/newproducts/flyers/NPHurst.pdf

So it is available I guess eh? This is the only shop I found that has it though.

Yeah, I can't find the 5201 either, but I'd wait awhile and see what the competition comes up with. Though that price does look good, I'd call first and see if they actually have it.

As far as the 0201 goes, EBay has a bunch of them HERE

Edit: Ooooo, I just noticed the new 5201 has added postive stops. Even better!!!

I have had my Hurst for about 8 months. I love it. Never missed a shift and it is as tight now as it ever was. Cost $180

I put one of these in a couple of weeks ago, the 0201 version. I absolutly love it. Compared to most modifications you can do, this one you use no matter how or where you drive the car. That is what makes it great. If I had to do it all over again, it would be my first mod.

I have not had any issues with the vibrations in any gear or at any RPMs

The billet comp plus #5201 is not yet available. Pro Mustang Performance has it listed as comming soon, I emailed them a few weaks ago and he does not have an exact release date but you can preorder it by clicking the order button. They take your info but don't charge you till the ship it. He also said he is only getting 3 at first, one person had one preordered and I preordered one. I cann't wait for it to come in!!!!
