Default Radio Removal Question

How difficult is it to remove the Shaker 1000 radio from the dash? I have an XM Myfi using the FM Modulator, but I'm not happy with the quality or volume of it. I bought the necessary adaptors from the XM Fanstore to use the auxilliary input on the factory radio, but would prefer not to have to pay someone to put it in if it's not too difficult. I sure don't want to break anything by trying it without knowing how to do it.

TIA

It really is not hard. Remove the console top half, the side piecse (they snap off) around the radio, then the upper and lower panels around the radio. Just be careful when removing the wiring plugs from your switches as they do not have a lot of extra length.

It's a pain in the butt because you have to remove the whole center console.

Hmm... I was able to do it by just removing the top half of the console. Two screws and some snaps as I recall. I have a stick and had to remove the shift handle, and then the top plate to the console lifted right off.

I've got a stick, too. Did you notice that the center stack and the console interlock? You may want to recheck it. Based on how they fit together, there's no way you could've gotten it back to the original fit without some serious bending (and marring) of the center stack piece. I could be wrong, though.

You are correct, There are a couple of screws that I had to remove and then **** the back of the base up to get the top free. I was having a blonde moment!

You don't have to take off so many parts. Here's some photos I just tossed together.
