OK guys show me your engines
I went to a car show today and my girl(car) and wife had a great time. My question is this....I have on my 05 xenon matching window louvers and scoops, front chin spoiler, Matte black hood scoop, Cervini's side exhaust completed now!(thats a whole different story). I started with a bone stock with all the options for the V8 and built in my mind what I wanted my GT500 Fastback to look like. the motor is stock, but was well cleaned along with the rest of the car. The other 05 GT(by the way was VERY nice beat me)? Now I'm not trying to be a big baby or do I really care but was more confused then anything. His car was gun metal grey with the pony emblems and up graded 18 bullitts wheels. Side louvers and some chrome hose covers, and a plastic intake with the JLT kit. Now please do not post anything about his ride that would be rude, because his car is very nice. I guess the confussion was that if I was a judge, and judging a car that someone did alot of custom work as myself(all parts installed)=) would go for me even if the engine bay was not done over stock. I'm sorry for any confussion on my part i've had 3hrs of sleep in 40 hrs=(
thanks dan

hey like he said. i was in a car show myself and 6 gts im just a v6 i know but i have done plenty of mods most all myself. i took 2nd 1st went to a guy who bought his car with 20" blings and a 3dcarbon kit. never drives it just for show. he wouldnt even lift his hood due to how dirty it was. i spent all day detailing it. now granted i did get seven and beat out the other gts but i dont see what put him over the others.

Installed new FRPP Valve Covers today. Rest of underhood is dirty. It's amazing how these things collect dirt under the hood.

these three are after the show today. unfortuantly i didn't have my camera there, and as far as I know, the only pictures taken of my car was with a 35mm so those will be a while.
my valve covers look like crap.

The stock covers use maybe 12 to 14 bolts each? Not really sure... but about 10 minutes to get them off, a few hours of sanding and polishing... couple more hours to prime and then sand again... then finally a few coats of your favorite color....
Not very hard, the stock gaskets are a breeze to work with by the way... hard rubbery compond and very easy to manipulate.

RE: OK guys show me your engines
looks nice! When you say sanding what grit to work or smooth out the valve cover? I would also think a high temp primer or just high temp paint> When I had my old chevy I would spray the block without primer? Please more detail....=)
