i didnt fully read the article but from my understanding, theyre making a modified mustang a rental car??? wheres the sense behind that
Honestly, after my reading of the article, I can only come up with one answer: history. Apparently, they did it in '66, so they figure they'll do it again. Which begs one to repeat your question: "where's the sense behind that?" considering Ford's financial status at the moment.

Cool, it has the FRPP Handling Pack. It looks good on it. And yes, the gold stripes look great, too. Very sharp.

Just saw it this morning. Will be the standard black with gold stripes. Supposedly to have 330 hp due to exhaust, CAI and tune along with stiffer suspension.

Due to start renting this month and will then be sold at auction in mid 2007. (All beat to hell, of course)

Kinda funny if you think about it. There will be a waiting list at the rental offices to rent one! Then, a waiting list at dealerships to buy one.

Why are you guys saying this is financially irresponsible? Ford sold Hertz in Dec. (usa today article), so Hertz is BUYING 500 of these. Thats a sale of about $15,000,000! Makes finacal sense to me!!

The whole thing is stupid, especially for any US automaker who will be lucky to be around in 10 years or less at this rate. I have stock in Ford and not happy with $7.30 a share; right about at their 52 week low. Note to senior management: Thanks for wasting time on such things!!! 500 specialty cars for rental... geesh, does it get any more lame brain than that?

Why don't you add another four shades of silver metallic to the 07 while you're at it.

It does???? How bout 5000 green metallic bullit units; thats $150,000,000 or $135 million more than the measly $15 million you speak of. What do you think the cost to Ford is on these 500 specialty cars? ...probably close to $15 million; net income: BIG FAT ZERO;

Sorry not upset at you man; (unless you made this decision for Ford; (lol))

If it won't make them money, Ford won't do it. All they're doing - as I see it - is selling Shelby the GTs and having him Hertzify them. Ford - or any other company - wouldn't do something that would result in a loss. That's just business.
