new mustang vert question
The dealer is in the process of replacing my top. (they screwed it up while installing a light bar). latest word from the manager was that the top needed to "acclimate" and may be wrinkled. Anyone have any knowledge or feedback to share about this install? I am concerned that this may just be BS.

Thanks for the reply. My thought was that it would go on tight, then relax. The "dealer" mentioned something about "wrinkles" before acclimating. If I understand your response, the top should be overly tight, with no wrinkles. Am I correct? Also, should the top be left in the up position while going thru this process? Thanks in advance for your response!

RE: new mustang vert question
My understanding is that the vinyl top is so tight that they actually leave the top up for two-three days to let it stretch out the wrinkles. The top is so tight it cannot be closed yet. once stretched for a period it can then be latched closed to get the final stretching.
My new vert's top was very hard to close the first 6- 8 times i tried to latch it closed. Now it is much easier.

latest from the dealer is that the car will be ready in the am tomorrow. I am going to let them keep it over the long weekend, hoping that any relaxing/acclimating of the top can happen in their custody. Wife spoke to the dealer this afternoon, and he said the black top was almost installed. here's a pic of my vert before the damage. (gotta love those salesman!)

RE: new mustang vert question
My top has some wrinkles in it also - and it's not new - They are more like creases.... One thing I've noticed is that one side is MUCH tighter than the other. Does anybody else have that problem?

RE: new mustang vert question
My top was replaced a couple of weeks ago. [Someone put a hole in the sailpanel] The guy who installed it told me not to put the top down for a couple of days.
What did the dealer do while installing the light bar that messed up the top to the point that it had to be replaced?
