Slight belt squeel on startup with GMS UDP's
Had my mechanic install my GMS UDP's and I'm getting a slight 2-3 second belt squeel on startup when it's cold and has been sitting overnight. This only happens if the car has been sitting for 12ish hours and is completely cold.
After the initial warming for the day, no matter how many times I start it -- no more belt squeel.
Anyone have an explanation? I would tighten the belt, but it's self torsioning so...whats the problem?
Thanks guys.

im not sure whats causing it, but my dad had the same thing on his firebird. a little silicone spray fixed it.
sounds like its nothing to worry about, if it only does it when its cold, but have ur mechanic who installed it have a look at it anyway.

Haven't had the problem on my GT. But, I hate belt noise. There are products at the autoparts store for that. Both spray and tube. With the tube stuff, I just put a wee bit on the belt, one section, crank it over, no more noise for quite some time. The spray stuff, I've used, works, but don't have as much experience with.
JUST A WEE BIT of the tube stuff, too much, and you get spray patterns on your underhood area mysteriously aligned with the belts. [:@]

I'm not sure how the belts react to heat but it seems like it's possible if the belt is cold It will be a bit more stiff and once it heats up it wont be as likely to create a squeal since it's more loose.

If you're U/D pulley's came with a bigger waterpump pulley, MAKE SURE HE REPLACED THE DRIVERS SIDE ALTERNATOR BOLT!!!! It could be hitting your belt and will eventually wreck it.

It's a 2 pulley sytem. Not quite sure he would have removed the alternator pulley in the first place since it's crank pulley and waterpump unless I'm missing something?
The best is not fraying or glazed in any way.
