Those machines from Target or Sears are garbage and all they are good for is applying wax nothing more. You would be better off buying little foam applicator and apply by hand if that is all you want to do. If you truly want a finish that say "Hey Look at me "and is show worthy you will have to step up to a PC. You cannot achive those types of result by hand.
Also i think people are egtting confused with some of the terms that are being used here.
A Buffer is a 10" Buffer that you would buy from Sear or Target
A Rotary is a Rotary Machine that has a variable speed but only rotates in one direction. Kind of a big grinder essentially. And you can harm your finsh with one of these very easliy.
A PC/Porter Cable is a Random Orbital Polisher and although it can looks very similar to a Rotary polisher it is not the saem.
