Question for those who have Ford Racing Hood Pins
I am having an issue with the Ford Racing Hood Pins that I have on my car. The first set of torsion pins rusted badly after a very short period of time (about 2 months). I even cleaned them several times with Flitz but that didn't stop it. This is only happening to the torsion pins. The pin that goes through the hood and the striker plates are fine.
I figured it was a fluke and order a second set of the pins. I now have had them on about a week and am starting to see signs of rust already!
Now I know I live in an are condusive to things rusting (at the NJ shore) but I don't think that is the real reason for the rusting, otherwise other items that I have that are stainless should be rusting too, right?
Anyone else having issue with these pins showing rust? The claim is that all the parts in this kit are stainless steel.

I have the same exact problem. I clean mine with Neverdull every time I wash it. If yours is like mine it is the snap ring that is rusting and not the pin itself. Obviously the ring is not stainless. I have been considering switching over to hairpin style pins.

Yep, exactly.. the snap ring part. It doesn't look terrible in this picture, but this is AFTER cleaning with Flitz. The new ones are only starting to show rust where the snap ring enter the pin.
