2006 Mustang GT Weird A/C Noises
I have a new 2006 Mustang GT with 1000 miles. And today it was a nice sunny day in California and I decided to turn on the A/C and I kept hearing a ticking/snapping noise coming from the front area of the car. I slowed down to about 20 miles per hour and rolled down the windows and listened. I turned off the A/C and no sounds as far as ticking/snapping. I turn on the A/C and the noise comes back with a ticking/snapping sound. I turn off the A/C and it goes away. I turn the A/C on again and the snapping noise occurs every 12 seconds or so. Anyone hear of such a problem? Thanks.

I killed myself wondering the same thing LONG time ago and I posted on a few forums... it's the A/C converter... its annoying I know but it turns off and on every few seconds.
Nothing to worry about, save yourself the headache of thinking about it.

Yea... it's a Ford... they do that... according to my Mechanic nieghbor and the dealership told me it is nothing as well.
Another neighbor told me... you want QUIET AC.. buy a BMW or a Lexus...
If you put on a set of FlowMasters.. you won't notice the AC Clicking!

uhh...i dont think its normal. i bet there is not service bulletin yet or a recall so your dealers are reluctant to fix it.
Just becouse its a ford dousnt meen it is cheep. I OWN A 04 FOCUS, the cheapest of the cheap fords and its AC never makes any wierd noise!!!

Any car that has A/C will have a compressor that cycles on and off every few seconds. If you watch the pulley on the A/C compressor, you will see that the pulley acts as a clutch and will spin for several seconds and then stop spinning. The clicking sound that you hear is the clutch engaging and disengaging. The clutch on these cars is just louder than the ones on other cars. Your car is perfectly fine.
