if anyone can get any mustang its him- he knows how to do all the courtesy delivery stuff so the car comes directly to dealer of your choosing(but thru florida/get wherever). Allocation bs give big florida advantage. they probably have PLENTY of stock order slots booked you could revamp as needed- good guy, stopped to meet him after driving 1100 miles to florida on vacation...never seen so many freakin mustangs as on his lot.

My '06 GT Convertible was supposed to be here this Friday. Last Friday, my dealer informed me it was canceled and gave me my deposit back. Good luck! This bites.

An order is a sales contract. I guess I would have to take the time to read the fine print, and I am sure that dealers have an "out" for failure of the factory to deliver....but I would thing that if it gets cancelled then you have some serious negotiating leverage for a good deal on a 2007 (yes the weather is quite nice in my own little dreamworld).

Well I'll hold off on selling my 5.0 ragtop then until I actually have the 2006 in the driveway. An old convertible is better than no convertible for the summer.

I didn't see any "serious negotiating leverage" in my case (1 of 18,000 05GT's cancelled by Ford) or hear of any. Not surprising. Ford cancelled the order not the dealership and Ford wasn't giving the dealer any $$ to work with on "reorders" (from all I could find out). So the dealer isn't going to cut margin because the company (Ford) couldn't produce the product, especially on a high demand item when the majority of the folks are going for the reorder anyway. I felt I deserved some "serious negotiating leverage" on my 06 after 6 mos of waiting only to be cancelled. I did check with every local dealership (I was using X-Plan) and there was no negotiating; folks were paying over invoice on GT's out here in MA, even on automatics. What I got was a newer model year (06) and the several hundred dollar price increase. ...still 2k under msrp with X-Plan so took my reorder and one year from the original order I was thrilled to have my new 06. ...all old history now.

WOW, sounds like you guys are ordering from some really shady dealerships. I have talked to mine on a weekly basis since my order was placed, and as of yesterday they have a VIN number for the car.

My wife and I went to a dealership a couple of weeks ago to look at mustangs. We could not decide on what color to get, the dealership we were working with pulled up a list of cars within a 200 mile radius that matched the options we were looking for. They shipped 2 to the dealership from other dealersips so we could make a decision. The whole process only took 3 days to get the 2 cars to the dealership we were working with. LEJAY, I ordered 3/29/06. Was told initially 4-6 weeks (yeah right I knew better than that) and as of 3 weeks ago was given a production date of 4/24/06, and as of yesterday was told the vehicle was 100% in production with an estimated delivery date (according to Fords order system) of 5/8/06. But the sales manager at the dealership indicated that they have been getting them faster than that because I am only about 1 hour from the assembly plant in Flat Rock Michigan.
